Road access
To reach the starting point, take the A26 motorway towards Gravellona Toce, leaving at the exit for Verbania. Close to the train station of Verbania Fondotoce, take Via Montorfano.

Description of the itinerary
Two days on Montorfano, walking with donkeys along a simple itinerary on mule tracks and beaten paths within an area of natural beauty, in the first stretch tiptoeing through a cool forest of chestnut trees, proceeding to discover other hardwoods towards the summit, where hot, rocky crags make way for heather and gorse. These are the components of one of the most fascinating routes that can be followed with these gentle and docile companions. The itinerary, which we recommend following with the assistance of an association called "Somariamente", runs from the centre of the town of Montorfano along the light blue A56 path, the A58 Cadorna line – Cava Verde, to the summit of Montorfano. In addition to the green path, you can also "extend" your experience in this area of the district with a stay at the summit, returning the next day.
