Two new services to visit Baveno, marvellous city on Lake Maggiore: high tech to "netsurf" and make a virtual visit with your Smartphone.
Discover Baveno with a new tourist service, called "Itinere@Baveno". Installed in the centre of Baveno and alongside the lake you will find yellow cards in the form of a square tiled like a rhombus. These cards are recognisable also by their logo in the form of a hand holding a Smartphone and a code made from squares (QR Code). Each code is linked to a description of the place where you find it. Here's how it works:
- Check that your mobile phone can access the internet (to enable data communication)
- Download and install an application directly on your Smartphone in order to read the QR Code, look for the keyword QR Code on online businesses or on your mobile
- Look for the yellow cards distributed in the centre of Baveno and along the lake
- When you find a card, launch the installed application, take a photograph of the code contained in the signs: you will go immediately to a site with information on that place.
The service is compatible with new generation Smartphones equipped with digital cameras. The cost of the data connection depends on
your mobile phone plan as stipulated by your contract.
If you wish you access the Internet through Wi-Fi it is necessary to possess an appropriate device (portable PC, PDA, Smartphone)
equipped with a Wi-Fi interface and find a Wi-Fi service area, identifiable by the signal. Search your device for the network FREE_WI
and connect with your preferred navigation program or browser. On the welcome page:
- Choose a language
- Select "click to navigate"
- Insert your cell number including country code. The system will send an
SMS with username and password, email address and privacy agreement
- Upon receipt of the login details, insert them in the spaces provided and click "login".
The duration of the connection is two hours per day. The registration is valid for one month. The service is free of charge.
