The area known as the "Vergante" is a wide strip of land between the lakes Maggiore and Orta.
In this area stands out, with its almost 1500 meters high, the Mottarone famous tourist resort and an important station for winter sports. The territory is rich in many rivers of which the most important is the Erno that from Mottarone down to the town of Lesa, then flows into Lake Maggiore. “Hight Vergante” means the part under the foot of the Mottarone and develops between the town of Invorio and the village of Stresa, hamlet of Levo. The other towns and villages in the area of the High Vergante are: Ghevio, Silvera, Pisano, Colazza, Corciago, Tapigliano, Nebbiuno, Fosseno, Massino Visconti, Brovello, Graglia Piana, Carpugnino, Nocco, Gignese, Vezzo, Alpino and Levo. The municipalities of Vergante area are the following: Arona, Meina, Lesa, Belgirate, Stresa, Baveno, Invorio, Paruzzaro, Oleggio Castello, Pisano.
