This area is rich in wildlife and is located on the left bank of the river Toce. It is well equipped with wide and well-maintained paths and has signposts and educational notice boards.
Documents dating back to the 17th century demonstrate how this area was important as a firewood reserve for local people and at the same time served as a protective barrier for cultivated areas and against floods.
The area, which is a WWF environmental oasis, extends for approximately 23 hectares and is populated mainly by oak, hornbeam, ash, lime and enormous sessile oak trees growing alongside spindle tree bushes, hawthorn, honeysuckle and elder tree.
The flora that grows alongside the river is also noteworthy.
The fauna boasts many varieties of birds including herons, blackbirds, little ringed plovers, buzzards and green and red woodpeckers. At certain times, foxes, hares, badgers, squirrels and deer can also be seen.
