Hill of Buccione Tower

Situated nearby Mt. Mesma and overlooking Orta Lake, Colle della Torre di Buccione represents a particularly significant landscape feature of the lake as far as woodlands are concerned; on its summit there is a fortified tower of considerable historical-architectural interest, the last bulwark of a castle quoted in documents dating back to the 13th century. On Buccione tower there was a bell signalling dangers: the last one dating back to the 17th century is preserved in the garden of the Town Hall in Orta.
