Archaeological Museum of Arona

Arona

In the old center of Arona, located in the elegant square of San Graziano, there is the important Archaeological Museum.

There are many relics survived and preserved here in order to offer visitors a broad overview of the history of the production of man. The exhibition unfolds in a historic thematic journey. The first showcases store exhibits from the first lake dwelling of the Lagoni of Mercurago, active for most of the Bronze Age, and some important funerary artefacts from Celtic necropolis of Dormelletto. Beautiful bracelets and anklets are set and you have to deserve particular attention to a rare ovulate bronze anklet. Then you can see relics of other historical periods: many of them belong from Roman times, such as the collection preserved in the charming museum area dedicated to the Roman matrons
