July 6th-15th: “Baveno Festival Umberto Giordano” 15th Edition

From July 6th to 15th the “Umberto Giordano” Festival comes back in Baveno, Lake Maggiore. Great protagonists and concerts in extraordinary places!

The important summer music festival of Lake Maggiore represents an extraordinary opportunity to discover Giordano's compositions and not only. It was in fact organised first for the centenary of the “Fedora” masterpiece (1898) and the 50th anniversary of musician's death (1948). Claude Debussy, Georg Friedrich Haendel and in general all music genres and art forms of the 19th and the 20th century will also be celebrated for the occasion.

The town Baveno was chosen to be the main location of the festival because there, in Villa Fedora, Mr Giordano was used to spend his holiday time. Other places have been selected as other scenaries for the concerts, for example Baveno granite quarries.

The focus theme 2012 is Lake Enchant.

Great artists such as Gemma Bertagnolli and Giovanni Sollima will alternate during the performances.

First day performance: concert "Come d’incanto…Viaggiando intorno al mondo". Music from the world will be played by Discovery Ensemble and directed by Luigi Di Fronzo. July 6th at 21.15, Congress Palace in Stresa.
Last day performance: violoncellists Giovanni Sollima and Monika Leskovar in concert. July 15th at 21.15, granite quarry.
