In our territory “Distretto Turistico dei Laghi, Monti e Valli” the district of “Neveazzurra“ is waiting for you!

150 Km runs and trails with programmed snow system, 50 well spread, innovative and safe ski complexes in 1.000-3.000 Meter altitudes, several sport activities possible there (down-hill or cross-country skiing, ski climbing, snow boarding, free riding, eli-skiing, ice skating, climbing on icefalls, snow parks, etc.) and wonderful mountain resorts (i.e. Baitina di Druogno, Alpe Devero, Domobianca, Formazza, Macugnaga, Mottarone, Pian di Sole, Piana di Vigezzo and S. Domenico).

From delightful villages in the Alps to fashionable towns on the lakes, from Ossola Valleys to Maggiore, Orta and Mergozzo Lakes, our territory is preparing for extremely enchanting Christmas 2010.

In little markets between lakes and mountains - in S. Maria Maggiore, Macugnaga, Domodossola, Crevoladossola (Ossola), Omegna (Cusio), Arona and Verbania (Verbano) - you will find culinary specialities, hand-made products, elegant furnishing objects, Christmas decorations and cribs… The calendar of December is such full!

The sound of reed-pipes, the aroma of mulled wine, the taste of roast chestnuts, the happy lyrics… everything in Arona, very nice town on Lake Maggiore.
This is „AroNatale”, one of the most important Christmas event of Verbano region.

200 stands will offer a lot of beautiful hand-made works (hats, scarves, furnishing objects, jewellery, cribs and Christmas decorations), gastronomic specialties (bio-products or homely cuisine) with gorgeous tastings and funny toys for children (wooden or recycled material objects).

The magic Christmas atmosphere combines perfectly with the charm of Lake Orta.
And Omegna doesn’t miss that opportunity with its Christmas little market, that is organised by Pro Loco Association for the third time.

For your Christmas shopping more than 50 exhibitors will offer the most original creations to the point - from little crib statues to decorations for your Christmas tree and party table, from hand-made works to gastronomic preparations.

Two days characterised by the fantastic Christmas atmosphere!

On December 7th and 8th from 10 to 18 the town Macugnaga is organising the traditional Christmas little market rich in typical hand-made, art and gastronomic products in the Town Hall Square of Macugnaga, the main village of Anzasca Valley.

They are being accompanied by an interesting open competition, by which the best illumination of public building (a commercial activity) and of private residence will be prized following the judge of a very important set designer.

On December 8th, from 9 to 19, Pro Loco together with Crevoladossola municipality organises the traditional “Santa Klaus Fair” in ancient nice hamlets of Oira and Canova d’Oira.

Past atmosphere, old traditions, the unfailing market stands, folklore with groups from Preglia, Cosasca, Trontano and Beura as well as gastronomy with mulled wine, hot chocolate, raclette and roasted chestnuts and the "Santa Klaus Pit", where you can win funny prizes and give your money to charity.

2010, the Biodiversity Year.
For Christmas the town Orta S. Giulio is preparing a calendar rich in events thanks to the precious collaboration of “Consorzio Pro Loco Lago d’Orta e Alto Novarese”.
For more than one year „Consorzio Pro Loco“ has being involved in a series of projects for the protection of flowers, plants, vegetables and fruits now completely disappeared.

A Christmas market with 150 exhibitors and their hand-made as well as gastronomic products in the historical centre - Piazza Risorgimento, Via Roma, Via Cavalli, Via Rossetti Valentini and Via Rosmini – and Santa, the chain saw artists and the „Stress Bar“ (in partnership with the Province VCO) in Piazzetta Gennari.

All this on December 4th and 5th, from 10 to 18, in Santa Maria Maggiore, nice village in Vigezzo Valley, the “Painters’” one.

13th edition of the traditional Christmas Market with 100 stands by typical red pitched roofs in the medieval centre of Domodossola.
The event is being realised by the Pro loco Association of Ossola Valley capital town on December 10th to 12th... waiting for the Christmas Day.

Hand-made and gastronomic products but also entertainment for families, hot chocolate cups and mulled wine glasses are being offered among the porticoes, along the narrow roads and at the ancient squares of the renewed town “Cultural Centre”.

“Piazze Natalizie” 6th edition, the traditional and at the same time innovated Christmas Market of the Province Verbano-Cusio-Ossola capital town on Lake Maggiore, comes back on December 4th to 8th from 9.30 to 19!

In Verbania-Intra historical centre 40 gastronomic stands as well as 50 craft ones will brighten up the two days celebration together with music, gospel concerts – like the “White Spirits’” performance on December 4th at 15.30 at Piazza Ranzoni - and shows along the roads and at the main squares.

The largest Wilderness Area of the Alps (about 15.000 hectares) enclosed between Lake Maggiore and Ossola Valleys became a national park in 1992.
The European Wilderness Association declared Val Grande as the only area in Europe that completely maintains original environmental properties.

GROVE OF REEDS IN FONDOTOCE (Verbania)
A 360 hectare wide reserve on the Plain of Toce, the most important river in Ossola region.
Among many and many reeds there are essential environmental conditions for lake fish reproducing and bird nesting and wintering.
Some beautiful beaches on the lake.

Folklore and tradition, ancient smells and costumes, jobs and tools: everything with the event "Un Salto nel Passato" - 10th edition on December 18th (14.00-20.30) and 19th (12.00-20.30) in the old centre of Baveno (Vb) on Lake Maggiore.

Hand workers who produce sundials, clocks and straw chairs, astronomers, tailors and smiths will position in closed spaces characterised by typical vaults as well as along narrow roads and in court-yards lightened by Roman torches.
