Ossola Valley: Easter with ski, marble, culture, gold, traditions and... eggs!

In the Ossola Valleys Easter still means winter sports: at the moment the majority of the ski stations of Neveazzurra is open and we’re sure you’ll have fun skiing on them!
If you prefer something different (or simply you’re not a ski fan!), there are lot of interesting proposals.
First of all we recommend you a trip to Macugnaga, starting with a fascinating visit to the walser village in front of the Monte Rosa and then you’ll have the chance to visit one of the biggest Italian ex goldmines: from April 1 to 11 it will be possible to visit the “Guia Goldmine”. Everyday guided tours at 10 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
A rich calendar of event in Santa Maria Maggiore, the main village of Vigezzo Valley: culture, plays and…eggs!
The exhibition “Fu-Turismo” will be exceptionally open from April 4 to April 11 (10-12.30 a.m. 4.30-7 p.m.) in the Cultural Centre of the old Municipality of Santa Maria Maggiore.
On Easter day enjoy the funny play “S…cova l’ova!”: the event, at its third edition, is only for children under 12 years old.
The historical centre of the village will be invaded by many eggs, hidden by the village’s merchants: the best will win beautiful prizes and the one who will find the gold egg will win a special award!
Last appointment in Santa Maria Maggiore from April 5 to 11: a funny and original theatral play, called “Macchina per il teatro incosciente”, will intrigue adults and children, working with their fantasy. How? In few minutes, using simple objects, the participant will have to represent the great classical of literature and fables. When? Everyday from 10.30 to 12 a.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Cultural Centre of Santa Maria Maggiore.
In Mergozzo (Montorfano Mount) on April 5, the Association “Somariamente” proposes a beautiful walk on donkey! In the afternoon it will be possible to take part to an interesting laboratory for children.
Domodossola propose san interesting personal exhibition by Carla Saglio: the works of this artist will be guested in the Esposition Hall in Domodossola, Fontana Square.
In Ornavasso you will have the chance to visit the Old Marble Quarry: its precious marble was used to build some important italian monuments, such as the Duomo of Milan or the Certosa in Pavia. The quarry will be visitable from June, 1 till September, 30 but it will exceptionally be open also in these dates:
March, 27 from 2.30 to 6 p.m.
March, 28 from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2.30 to 6 p.m.
April, 3 from 2 to 6 p.m.
April, 5 from 10 to 12 a.m. and from 2 to 6 p.m.
A traditional “Via Crucis” will take place in Vogogna, a wonderful medieval village in the Ossola District.
