The programm for a visit in our marvellous region is full of choices for your free-time in the open air!
Let's start from Ossola valleys.
In Vigezzo Valley the exhibition “Fu-Turismo - Touristic Curiosities of Vigezzo from the 1920s-1970s” will exceptionally be open till April 11th (10-12.30 a.m. - 4.30-7 p.m.) in the Cultural Centre "Vecchio Municipio" of Santa Maria Maggiore.
In Santa Maria Maggiore, from today to April 11th, a funny and original theatral play called “Macchina per il teatro incosciente” intrigue adults and children, working with their fantasy. In few minutes, using simple objects, the participant have to represent the great classical of literature and fables. When? Everyday from 10.30 to 12 a.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m. in the "Sala Mandamentale" of the town Cultural Centre.
Enjoy then the funny play “S…cova l’ova!”. The event, at its third edition, is only for children under 12 years old. From 10 a.m. the historical centre of Santa Maria Maggiore will be invaded by eggs, hidden by village’s merchants, and the best searcher will win beautiful prizes and the one who will find a gold egg will win a special award! In San Domenico (Varzo) let's ski on the runs of Ciamporino, where at the cost of 5 euro + skipass you will get a nice bag full of typical products for lunch!
We recommend a trip to Macugnaga, starting with a fascinating visit of the walser village in front of Monte Rosa. Then you have the chance to visit one of the biggest ex goldmines of Italy: till April 11th, in fact, it is possible to visit the “Guia Goldmine” with everyday guided tours at 10 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. – 5 p.m..
In Bognanco Valley from 4 p.m. there will be some guided visits of the Ausonia Spring in Bognanco, where you can enjoy and relax with the benefical effects of a Wellness & Spa Center.
The Ecomuseum of Malesco organizes the excursion “Case di Pietra” at 2.30 p.m. (from Malesco to the old "Ielmoli" Mill) to celebrate the typical material by means of which local buidings, roofs, walls and other architectural structures had being built along the centuries: the stone called "pioda". In Mergozzo (Montorfano) the Association “Somariamente” proposes a beautiful walk on donkeys! Moreover, in the afternoon it will be possible to take part to an interesting outside laboratory for children. For infos, call +39 338 1803284.
In Antrona Valley an excursion called "L'assalto alla corriera, stoire di Resistenza" will take place through some topic places of the village of Viganella which constituted the scenary of civil tragedies during the II World War. In Ornavasso you have the chance to visit the Old Marble Quarry, with a 200 metres gallery and the great Marble Room. Its precious material was used to build some important Italian monuments, such as the Duomo of Milan or the Certosa in Pavia. The quarry will be visitable from June 1st till September 30th (www.anticacava.it) but it is exceptionally open today also, from 10 to 12 a.m. and from 2 to 6 p.m.
At the end we propose some music and art events.
At 9 p.m. in the PalaSport of Verbania-Intra the Ente Musicale Verbanese and the Banda Musicale Ghiffese are going to play music by Andrew Lloyd Webber with the concert “MUSICAL AND PASSION”.
Verbania also guests the little market of “CreArtisti”: skilled artisans create, expose and sell their works on the lakeside of Verbania-Pallanza from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Trarego Viggiona holds the second edition of “Sentieri d’Arte”. This small village on Lake Maggiore is enriched with works of 21 Italian and foreign artists: you will have the possibility to visit their houses and gardens.
An exposition by Maurizio Pallanza, named “Aria, acqua, terra” is held in this town, too. In particular, local photographer's most representative pictures are shown in the Museum of Natural Sciences, illustrating Ossola and Verbano mountain landscapes.
